Acceptance

By opening or using astound.tools in any way, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree with any part of them, please do not use the site. These terms apply to everyone who uses the site, and we do not offer user accounts, so there is nothing extra to sign up for.

The service and eligibility

We provide free, browser-based developer utilities through astound.tools. The site has a marketing area and a tools suite at astound.tools/dev. We may add, change or remove tools and features at any time.

You may use the service only if you are at least 13 years old, or the minimum age required to agree to terms like these in the country where you live. By using the site you confirm that you meet this age requirement and that you may lawfully enter into this agreement.

Use of the tools

You may use the tools for personal or commercial purposes, including in your work, as long as what you do is lawful where you do it. The tools are there to help with everyday developer tasks such as encoding and decoding data, inspecting tokens and certificates, and transforming between formats.

Your inputs

You own, or have the right to use, everything you type or upload into a tool. We do not claim any rights over your inputs. For most tools the data stays entirely in your browser and is never sent to us. For the small number of tools that need a network request (set out in our Privacy Policy), only what is needed to carry out your request is used to return a result to you.

You are responsible for making sure you have the rights to any data you process with the tools, and that doing so does not break any law or anyone else rights.

Acceptable use

When using the site you agree not to:

• Use the tools for anything unlawful, fraudulent or harmful.
• Try to disrupt, overload, reverse-engineer or gain unauthorized access to the site, the tools or any related systems.
• Automate access in a way that interferes with the service for others or that goes beyond reasonable use.
• Use the tools to process data you do not have the right to process.

We may restrict or block access if we believe these rules are being broken, in order to protect the service and other users.

Third-party services and links

Some tools connect to outside services, and the site may link to third-party websites. We do not control those services and are not responsible for their content, availability or practices. Any use of a third-party service is on its own terms.

Advertising

The tools app shows advertising served by Google AdSense and other ad partners. We do not control which specific ads you see, and we are not responsible for the products, services or claims made in advertisements. Clicking an ad takes you to a third-party site with its own terms.

Intellectual property

The astound.tools site, including its design, text, branding and code, is owned by or licensed to Astound Technology and protected by intellectual property laws. You may use the tools as described in these terms, but you may not copy, republish, redistribute or build derivative works from the site itself without permission. Your inputs remain yours, as set out above.

No warranties

The tools and the site are provided to you "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. We do not promise that the tools will be accurate, reliable, uninterrupted, error-free, or fit for any particular purpose. Any reliance on the tools or their output is at your own risk. Where the law does not allow certain warranty exclusions, those exclusions may not apply to you.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, neither Astound Technology nor anyone involved in providing the site shall be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, data, goodwill or other intangible losses, arising out of or related to your use of, or inability to use, the site. Our total liability for any claim related to the site is limited to the amount you have paid us to use it, which is zero for our free tools. Some jurisdictions do not allow these limits, so they may not apply in full.

Termination

You may stop using the site at any time, for any reason. We may suspend or restrict access for anyone, at any time and without notice, if we believe it is necessary to protect the service, our users or the law. Clauses that by their nature should continue, such as the warranty disclaimer and the liability limit, stay in effect after access ends.

Privacy

How we handle information is set out in our Privacy Policy, which is part of these terms by reference. Using the site means you accept the practices described there, including the use of cookies and similar technologies after you have given consent.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which Astound Technology is established, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. We both agree that any dispute relating to these terms or the site will be handled in the courts of that jurisdiction, unless you are a consumer who has the right to a different process under the mandatory laws of your country of residence.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. When we make a meaningful change, the Last updated date at the top moves with it. If you keep using the site after a change takes effect, that counts as acceptance of the new terms. It is a good idea to revisit this page occasionally.
